Fossil fuels, especially crude oil formed through geological processes over millions of years, have become both a blessing and a major concern for the modern world. Today, the global economy, industries, transportation, and everyday life depend heavily on this resource. As a result, crude oil has become the center of global politics, conflicts, and competition for dominance.

If we look back at history, the formation of crude oil is a process that began millions of years ago. Particularly, countries in the Middle East such as Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Kuwait, and United Arab Emirates became famous for their vast oil reserves. Because of the enormous quantities of oil found there, these regions gained great importance in the global economy.

When humans realized that crude oil could be refined into fuels like petrol, diesel, kerosene, and many other useful products, it gave a huge boost to industrial development. Automobiles, airplanes, ships, and large industries all began to rely heavily on oil. As a result, competition among countries to control oil reserves increased significantly.

Because of this, several political conflicts and wars have taken place throughout history. For example, the Gulf War is often cited as an example of geopolitical conflict related to oil resources. Control over oil supply, pricing, and reserves has frequently created political tension among powerful nations.

In essence, fuel is a natural resource. It cannot be monopolized by a single individual. However, when oil reserves are found within the territory of a country, they are considered the national wealth of that country. Therefore, that nation has the right to utilize and trade this resource. Many countries have achieved significant economic growth through oil exports.

At the same time, the world’s dependence on oil has created serious challenges. Environmental pollution, climate change, and the rapid depletion of natural resources have become major global concerns. Because of this, there is increasing emphasis worldwide on alternative energy sources such as solar power, wind energy, and hydropower.
